WHY EMBODIED COACHING?

  1. When you’re in pain, if you have been in pain for a very long time, or if life has been stressful, busy, complicated - it can be difficult to see the wood for the trees. It can be a revelation to take some time to talk about how you’ve got to where you’re at. What’s the whole story? That’s something that we can explore as we work. And this can give you a sense of agency, which is often a first step to pain and stress relief.

  2. Given space, bodywork can bring stuff up, “Oh, I’ve suddenly remembered X… that’s so weird, I haven’t thought about that for years!” Or you might become unexpectedly emotional at a certain point on your body.

If I were only working on your physiology that opportunity to explore what your body is saying in that moment would be lost. If I were offering only talking therapy your body’s wisdom is missed.

  3. We can be so unaware of how the words we choose create our reality. How often do you use the word sorry? And what is your posture doing when you say sorry as a reflex? Do you describe small setbacks as ‘nightmares’? Do you use ‘blocking’ words when asked how you are doing?

By becoming conscious of our word choices along with the shapes we make with our body when we speak - and by making changes that serve the person we want to be and the reality we want to be living in, transformation can happen.

  4. Guided visualisation and breathing techniques are two priceless tools that I will incorporate for you to learn how to powerfully change your state and to regulate and reset your nervous system.

This is another way to build your personal resilience and to teach your mind to refocus on an outcome that is empowering rather than debilitating. If you are neurodivergent and are feeling overwhelmed with symptoms (unmasked!), suffer from anxiety or tend to ruminate, these tools and practices are very helpful.
