SPACEMAKING
Spacemaking. What is it? If you’re in pain whether physical, mental or emotional, what’s happening fundamentally? There’s pressure, tension, a sense of overwhelm and limitation. It feels like the world is closing in, the muscles are tight, the thoughts are weighty and oppressing. There’s no space… and making space is the antidote to pain.
Physical pain
> Let there be space in your musculoskeletal system through strengthening, realigning and relieving. For this we use physical therapy, posture and movement changes and clinical somatics alignment exercises. For chronic pain, PRT teaches you to re-interpret the stuck alarm system that is causing you to feel pain habitually.
Non-physical pain
> Let there be space between what happens and how you respond, between your feelings and your actions, between your thoughts and who you are. For this we use embodied talking (learn how your language creates your reality), breathwork, inner work practices and PRT.
The truth is. Pain tends to be messy. it’s usually a mix of the physical and mental. My aim in working with you will be to work specifically with your pain to create a programme that is both resourcing and transformative.
TECHNIQUES
Depending on your type of pain we will use one or a combination of these techniques to relieve your pain and get you feeling good again.
BSR is a gentle bodywork technique like nothing you’ve experienced before. It helps your body reengage its natural healing ability, by using a precise pattern of ‘releases’ for lasting relief from pain.
You’ll feel like you’ve had a massage but the shift in your body goes much deeper. For stress related pain, hands-on treatment includes diaphragmatic breathing lessons and somatic releasing.
Using Gestalt-based techniques, visualisation, reflection and mindfulness - and, where appropriate, Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) you have the option to explore beyond the physical manifestation of your pain.
Your body holds your history and it can be mind-blowing and nervous system-resetting, when you give your story a voice. This is especially powerful if you have ongoing or unexplained pain or tension.
With the groundbreaking Clinical Somatics exercises you’ll learn to use mindful ‘pandiculation’ (tensing and then releasing movements) to reorganise the way your body moves and to re-sensitise your brain’s proprioception.
Also, you’ll get to understand how your daily posture habits are impacting you and learn new, optimal ones. Lastly and most importantly - get breathing in a way that resources you whatever is happening or has happened in your life.

I limit my daily session numbers to provide the best attention to each client, please respect my time by letting me know as soon as you’re aware you won’t be able to attend a session. In this way you also make it possible for a waiting-list client to attend instead.
